Generative AI, or generative artificial intelligence, is a type of machine learning that uses artificial intelligence to create new content. This content can include text, images, music, audio, videos, conversations, stories, software code, and product designs ( https://cloud.google.com/use-cases/generative-ai ).
Generative AI is powered by foundation models, which are large AI models that can multi-task and perform out-of-the-box tasks, such as summarization, Q&A, and classification. Generative AI can learn from existing artifacts to generate new, realistic artifacts that reflect the characteristics of the training data but don't repeat it.
