The Lord's Prayer

The Our Father is appropriate at this point because we respond to the Eucharistic Prayer with our pledge and petition to the Father expressed in the prayers of the priest. We pledge that we want God's will, not our own, to be done. We ask that earth become like heaven.

Then we ask for help with all other daily needs. We need grace to overcome sin. We need the faith to be courageous when we experience trials. We ask for mercy and forgiveness for the times we fail to follow Christ. We ask for the grace to forgive others with the same mercy God gives to us. We ask for strength to discipline ourselves when we are tempted to sin. We ask for protection from Satan's temptations and resist the ways of the world.
